State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported on the following cases:
• A road rage incident led to an arrest in Monroe County. On Jan. 5 at 4:32 p.m. troopers were notified of a road rage incident along Route 115 at Gilbert Road in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said the victim, a 40-year-old woman from Saylorsburg, was northbound on 115 when she slowed for traffic and Rafael Andino, 52, of Effort, passed her. The victim and Andino then exchanged finger gestures. They then pulled over.
Police said Andino got out of his vehicle and confronted the victim with language and gestures offensive to the victim and her children.
Andino was cited for disorderly conduct.
• On Jan. 6 at 2:58 p.m. troopers responded to Kinsley’s ShopRite, located at 107 Kinsley Drive, Brodheadsville, Chestnuthill Township. Denise Crooker, 57, of Effort was cited for retail theft. Troopers said she stole $160 worth of items from the store.
• Troopers said Michael Mahony, 46, of Effort, attempted to purchase a Springfield 9 mm pistol at Dunkelberger’s Sports Outfitters, located at 1471 Route 209, in Chestnuthill Township. Mahony completed an application/record of sale for the firearm transaction. A background check was completed and Mahony was denied from purchasing the firearm. This occurred on July 1, 2021.
Charges were filed against Mahony, who is prohibited from purchasing a firearm due to a prior criminal arrest.
