Lehighton Police Log

The Lehighton Police Department released details on recent incidents. Police have not released names of the suspects until formal charges are filed.

• A 52-year-old Lehighton man was cited for driving under the influence, for an incident that occurred at 8:21 p.m. Jan. 2 in the 100 block of South Street. The man showed signs of intoxication and was subsequently taken into custody for suspicion of DUI. Charges are pending.

• A 43-year-old Lehighton woman was cited for DUI, for an incident that took place at 9 p.m. Dec. 31 in the 400 block of South Third Street. A traffic stop was initiated after the woman was observed operating a vehicle with illegal window tinting. The driver exhibited signs of impairment, and failed field sobriety testing. She was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI. Charges are pending blood testing results.

• A 43-year-old Jim Thorpe man was cited for DUI, for an incident at around 7:55 p.m. Sunday along Route 443. The driver was stopped for an equipment violation and police saw signs of impairment. Roadside sobriety testing was administered. During a consensual search of the vehicle, marijuana and related drug equipment was discovered. Charges are pending lab results.

• A 22-year-old Nesquehoning man was cited for DUI, for an incident that occurred at 8:30 p.m. Jan. 6 in the 100 block of South First Street. The driver was stopped for an equipment violation and police saw signs of impairment. Roadside sobriety testing was administered. The man was taken into custody and refused to speak with investigation officers further, therefore a more detailed evaluation could not be conducted. Charges are pending labs results.

• A person was cited for criminal mischief, for an incident that occurred between Jan. 6-9 in the 300 block of South Third Street. Police said the person used an air rifle/BB gun to damage several vehicles and a garage window.
