Franklin Township police log
The Franklin Township Police Department released details on the following incidents:
• A 54-year-old Lehighton woman was charged with retail theft, for an incident that occurred Dec. 5 at a convenience store on Interchange Road. An item valued at $8.46 was removed from the store.
• A burglary/theft was reported at a township residence on Dec. 19. Firearms, tools, and other items were taken over a period of time. The investigation is ongoing.
• A resident reported on Dec. 19 the theft of Christmas decorations. Two Santa-themed blow mold decorations, valued at $100, were removed by unknown individuals.
• The Lehighton Water Authority reported on Dec. 19 the theft of services at a residence in the township. After a property had the water discontinued for prolonged dereliction to pay the bill, it was found the service had been turned back on by unauthorized persons.
• A 48-year-old Lehighton man was taken into custody on Dec. 29 on an outstanding warrant issued by Carbon County.
• An attempted breaking and entering was reported on Dec. 29 at a township residence. Attempted entry was made to the floor level of a residence at around 1:30 a.m. the previous morning, but was not reported until hours later. The investigation is ongoing.
• Township police department officers assisted the Pennsylvania Waterways Conservation Officer in taking a 19-year-old Lansford man into custody on an outstanding felony arrest warrant on Dec. 30. The individual was subsequently transported to the Carbon County Correctional Facility.
• A township resident reported on Dec. 30 the theft of a Stihl pole saw valued at $300. A possible suspect has been identified. The investigation is ongoing.
