Tamaqua reminds residents of snow clearing

Tamaqua property owners must maintain a 3-foot-wide path on their sidewalks that is clear of all snow and ice. Snow and ice must be removed from sidewalks within 24 hours after a storm ends.

Property owners who fail to do so may be subject to a $25 fine for the first offense and higher fines for subsequent offenses.

Residents are reminded not to throw snow, ice or other materials onto the streets.

Vehicle traffic compacts the snow causing slippery conditions. Snow should not be piled at intersections, near fire hydrants or on storm drains.

Residents are encouraged to clear snow from around fire hydrants and storm drains. Residents may be fined for throwing snow on the street.

Questions may be directed to the Tamaqua Municipal Building at 570-668-3444 or 570-668-0300.
