The congregation of Emmanuel UCC, Lansford, surprised its pastor and his wife, the Rev. William J. and Ruth Wartluft, at a farewell dinner held recently at the Summit Hill American Legion Post Home.

The couple will be leaving the Lansford church at the end of the year. They will be moving to Maine where they will join their children and grandchildren.

They came to Lansford in October 1977.

Since that time, they have been very active in church, community and civic activities. Their accomplishments were read to the assemblage by the Rev. John Hoff of Jacobs UCC, Weissport, master of ceremonies.
