No tax increase in Parryville

The backdrop to Parryville’s December monthly meeting of the Borough Council was the screaming sirens of Parryville’s Fire Department helping Santa, Mrs. Claus, and a trusty elf visit seven local families.

Vice President Dustin Wentz said, “This is three or four more houses than last year.”

Wentz thanked the fire department for its “outstanding service to the community.”

Another Christmas gift is for the taxpayers. The borough voted unanimously to adopt the 2023 budget with no tax increase from last year.

The Electronics Recycling Day was a “great success,” President Jason Smith said.

“This was a great event but one we will probably do every two years due to its cost to the borough.”

He also said the Christmas tree lighting was a success and thanked all the volunteers for their time.

Finally, he noted that the borough truck sold for its asking price of $1,500.

The fire department will not have a January breakfast; the next one will be Feb. 5. They are hosting a baked ziti dinner on Jan. 21 from 4-7 p.m. with a rain date of Jan. 28. They are hosting an adult bingo on Feb. 11.
