Palmerton Borough Council took the following action on Thursday:
• Approved the 2023 salary schedule. Non-unionized employees will receive a 4.5% increase.
• Announced that bids for the sewer rehabilitation project are due by 2 p.m. Jan. 5.
• Approved a request to the Civil Service Commission for the police eligibility list.
• Adopted a change to its fireworks ordinance so that the borough’s ordinance is compliant with the state.
• Accepted the resignation of Clark Ritter as codes officer.
• Approved membership of Ronald Peters and Jacob Serfass to the Palmerton Fire Department.
• Agreed to retract the alarm ordinance.
• Increased the Minimum Municipal Obligation for the non-uniformed pension fund from $121,375 to $121,453.
• Announced the borough would participate in discussion concerning the real estate transfer fee proposal with Carbon County if it entertains that.
• Agreed to re-advertise on Municibid the sale of an old police car, along with several truck scales.
• Approved the 2023 meeting schedule. Borough council will continue to meet at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursday of each month, except for November and December, when meetings will be held the first and third Thursday.
