Three people hurt in Rt. 873 head-on crash

Three people were seriously injured in a head-on crash at 11:06 a.m. Dec. 6 on Rt. 873 in Washington Township.

State police at the Bethlehem barracks identified the victims as Roger A. Werley and Marilyn E. Werley, both 84 of Kutztown, and Scott D. Kern, 54, of Slatedale.

Police said all three victims sustained “suspected serious injuries” and were transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

Police said the crash occurred when Roger Werley was operating a 2022 Buick Encore northbound in the southbound lane of travel, where it was struck by a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup being driven southbound by Kern.

Police said both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Werley was cited for failure to drive on the right side of the road, police said.
