A Lehighton man admitted last week in Carbon County court to assaulting a woman who had to be hospitalized.
James C. Silvers, 44, pleaded to one count each of simple assault and reckless endangerment for an incident on May 21 in East Penn Township.
State police at Lehighton responded to a report of an assault incident and found a woman who was assaulted by Silvers.
Silvers admitted to a long history of mental health issues.
President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II sentenced Silvers to serve one day less 12 to one day less 24 months in the county prison and ordered that he get both drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations. Silvers had been an inmate in the county prison since the incident and was given credit for 186 days already served.
The jail term was for both counts, running concurrently.
He must also pay court costs of over $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole.
