A 73-year-old Schuylkill Haven man is the victim is a theft by deception incident that state police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks are investigating.
It happened at 12:50 a.m. Nov. 25 at Long Run Road, North Mannheim Township.
Police said the victim said he was scammed out of $1,000 through an email from someone pretending to work for McAfee Software.
The scam involved two $500 Target gift cards.
In a separate case, police said a 55-year-old Orwigsburg man was scammed out of $500 through the Facebook Messenger app.
That incident took place at 11:47 a.m. Nov. 23 at Country Hill Road in West Brunswick Township.
In a third incident report, state police at the Bethlehem barracks said an 83-year-old man from Poplar Lane, Lower Macungie Township, had $9,000 stolen from him.
Police said at 9:28 a.m. Nov. 24, it was reported at the theft of funds through Bitcoin happened with the money stolen from the victim’s PNC account.
