Trinity Happenings

First Saturday worship with Holy Communion at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. 3rd St., Lehighton, begins at 5 p.m. Holy Communion is served by continuous line with wafer placed in your open hand, and wine or grape juice in a small cup. Gluten free wafers are available.

Sunday worship with Holy Communion begins 9:30 a.m. Masks are no longer required, however, if you are not fully vaccinated, you are encouraged to wear a mask covering the nose and mouth for your own protection and safety. In addition, wear a mask if you feel uneasy about being in a group setting. The Rev. Nancy L. Moore presides. Coffeehouse fellowship follows the service in Luther Hall.

Weekly Sunday Church School for students ages 3 though grade 6 begins at 10:45 a.m. Confirmation class for 7th and 8th grade students is at the same time.

Trinity’s 150th anniversary observances begin Sunday afternoon, 3 p.m., with joyful worship, including full gospel procession and Holy Communion. Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod Associate of the Bishop Rev. Carl Shankweiler presides. A light supper will follow.

Trinity sponsored a Christmas tree in Lehighton’s Community Park. Tree lighting is at 6 p.m. Sunday.

Quiet Communion worship: Dec. 6, 11 a.m.

For those desiring to schedule a baptism, preregister by calling the church office before the Dec. 18 information session. For those desiring to seek membership at Trinity, please call the church office to set up an appointment.

The Trinity Thrift Store is open without reservations. Shopping hours are Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donation drop-offs are accepted during store hours on Wednesdays, limited to five bags or boxes. The Food Pantry continues to be open Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (and third Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting. Residents in need who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive prepackaged supplemental food items. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pick up. Pantry volunteers will assist pedestrians/those not in vehicles.

Additional events to observe Trinity’s 150th anniversary: family style covered dish dinner w/ “The Amazing Magi” Feb. 4, youth-featured worship March 23, Concert April 16, anniversary festival worship June 4.

Decorating two Christmas trees in the Sanctuary is Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. Volunteers are welcome. The Sunday School Christmas program takes place during Dec. 11 worship time.

Christmas Eve services: 6 p.m. Family worship with Holy Communion and children’s sermon; 9 p.m. Candlelight worship with Holy Communion; Christmas Day 9:30 a.m. worship with Holy Communion and Hymn Sing.
