A Schuylkill County motorcyclist was killed in a two-vehicle crash at 4:31 p.m. Thursday along Valley Road in Cass Township.

State police at Frackville identified the deceased as Leonard F. Kristoff, 61, of Pottsville.

Troopers said the crash occurred as William E. Flynn Jr., 60, of Pottsville, was driving a 2017 Dodge Ram truck northbound and attempted a left turn into a parking lot, at the same time Kristoff was southbound operating a 2009 Harley-Davidson Sportster. When Flynn turned his truck, it was struck by the Sportster.

After impact Kristoff was ejected from the motorcycle and landed in a gravel lot along the west berm. Flynn continued into the lot after impact.

Troopers said emergency responders performed life saving measures at the scene, but were unsuccessful. Kristoff was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a protective helmet, troopers said.

Traffic was detoured for several hours until the investigation was completed.
