Tamaqua 2022 Hunger Campaign enters its final week with several key events.
Wednesday and Thursday are Dine Out Against Hunger days at four Tamaqua restaurants. These businesses will donation a portion of their proceeds from the day to the hunger campaign.
Tommy’s Italian Specialty Shop and the Beacon Diner are participating on Wednesday, Oct. 26; the Tamaqua Station Restaurant and Sister’s Cantina are Thursday, Oct. 27 participants.
Saturday, Oct. 29, is Community Soup Sale pick-up day from 9 to noon at the bottom floor of Trinity UCC at the corner of Washington and Lafayette streets in Tamaqua.
For each quart purchased, soup buyers get raffle tickets good for gift certificates at the four Dine Out participating restaurants.
Any individual or group collecting food during the hunger campaign can bring what they have in boxes or bags to Trinity UCC during the soup pick-up time.
The hunger campaign closes on Sunday, Oct. 30 with a Halloween-themed hunger walk. Registration begins at 1:30 p.m. at the Tamaqua Community Art Center. The walk begins at 2 p.m. Individuals and teams are asked to have sponsors for the walk. A $10 self-sponsorship is suggested.
The Tamaqua Hunger Campaign is a project of the Tamaqua Area Faith Fellowship Network and the Tamaqua Area Community Partnership. Proceeds benefit food pantries at American Primitive Methodist Church and Trinity United Church of Christ and the People’s Pantry kiosk at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. Together, these pantries serve nearly 400 area families a month.
