Garden Club
Lewistown Valley Garden Club enjoyed a Members Tea on Sept. 27. The next meeting is Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. This will be the annual Dinner Meeting and will be held at the Zion Church Social Hall in Lewistown Valley. Please note the start time of 6 p.m.

Zion Lewistown
The Rev. Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday at Zion Church Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
The Zion Men will meet this Saturday at Memorial Hall at 8 a.m. The Women’s Bible Study meets every Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. in Memorial Hall.

Tamaqua Seniors
The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Oct. 13 with 23 members in attendance. President Mary Bittle opened the meeting with the reading “Signs Of Autumn.”

Upcoming event: Christmas party on Dec. 17 at La Dolce Casa Italian Restaurant in Tamaqua at 1 p.m.
The group meets every Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited.
Calvary Lewistown
The Rev.Ralph Saunders will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service Sunday in Calvary Evangelical Church, Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. and evening sing and praise at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 25 prayer meeting at 7 p.m.
Chili Cook off
Chili Cook Off, Oct. 30, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at St, John Lutheran Church, Pine and Mauch Chunk streets, Tamaqua.
Open to the public for tasting of chili. There is a charge for tasting. Chili will also be served by the bowl and quart, Hot dogs, Guers Ice Tea and Lemonade will also be served. Eat in or Take Out.

Safe Trick or Treat
Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tamaqua is hosting a free indoor Halloween safe event Sunday at the church at the corner of Mauch Chunk and Greenwood streets. The family event runs from 2 to 4 p.m.
Children ages 2 to 10 are welcome and encouraged to come in costume. Activities include pumpkin painting and games and a Halloween movie with popcorn and candy. All are welcome.
American Primitive

Meeting change
The Tamaqua Area School Board will hold its committee meetings and regular monthly meeting back-to-back on Nov. 15.
The change is because of the Nov. 8 general election.
Committees will meet at 7 p.m. The board will break for 10 minutes, then reconvene for the regular monthly meeting.
