State police at Schuylkill Haven

State Police at Schuylkill Haven reported on the following cases:

• Ryan D. Trayer, 30, of Reading, was charged with failure to drive at a safe speed following a crash at 5:13 p.m. Oct. 2 on Route 61 in Port Clinton.

Police said he was driving a 2010 Hyundai Elantra too fast for conditions when he attempted to enter the turning lane of Route 61. Police said the vehicle hydroplaned into the opposite lane of travel and struck a 2021 Toyota Sienna driven southbound by Brandon M. Craig, 38, of Pottsville.

No one was injured in the crash, police said.

• Nikki L. Snyder, 29, of Schuylkill Haven, was cited by state police for following too closely after a mishap at 6:12 p.m. Sept. 30 on Route 61 in West Brunswick Township.

Police said she was driving a 2019 Subaru Impreza northbound and was unable to stop after Bruce A. Troutman Jr., 48, of Orwigsburg, driving a 2019 Toyota Tundra, causing the mishap. The Impreza was towed from the scene.

Neither driver was injured in the mishap, police said.

• Four people, including a pedestrian, were hurt in a three-vehicle incident that happened at 1:39 p.m. Sept. 30 in North Manheim Township.

Police said it happened when a 2106 Ford F350 operated by Ralph T. Young III, 55, of Pottsville, and a 2006 Ford Focus driven by Bryan T. Evans, 36, of New Philadelphia, were northbound on Route 61. Police said Evans attempted to turn right off the highway and his Focus was struck by the F-350, after which time it left the roadway and struck a 2012 Kia Sorrento that was parked on a gravel lot located off the eastern shoulder of the road.

Police said Maria V. Rivera, 72, of Philadelphia, was leaning against the Sorrento and was struck by the Focus.

She and Evans were transported to the Geisinger-St. Luke’s Hospital. Police said Rivera had minor injuries while Evans’ injuries were unknown at the time.

Police said a 12-year-old girl who was a passenger with Young and Hassan T. Hussain, 33, of Pottsville, who was a passenger in Evans’ vehicle, both had possible injuries.
