State Rep. Keith R. McCall (D-Carbon) announced he has helped to secure $1.5-million to help renovate the Panther Valley Stadium in Lansford.

McCall said the funds will come from the state’s Capital Budget Fund to renovate the facility built in the 1930s as part of the Works Progress Administration program instituted by president Franklin D. Roosevelt.

“The stadium has been the site of many athletic contests and community events over the years, and it holds a great deal of sentimental value for area residents. It has brought people here for over 70 years, and they want to see it restored to its former glory,” McCall said.
