State police at the Pocono barracks reported investigating a hit-and-run crash along the northeast extension of the turnpike in Kidder Township, Carbon County, on Oct. 7 at 11:56 a.m. involving three vehicles.
Troopers said a vehicle was traveling northbound at mile marker 91.5 in the left lane while Corey G. Boudman, 40, of Gilbertsville, was also northbound and Jeffrey C. Szilagyi, 60, of Hellertown, behind him.
Troopers said the three vehicles were at the beginning of a work zone and just prior to the closing of the right lane. Troopers said the first driver came to a sudden stop, with the front of Boudman’s 2019 Chevrolet Silverado truck hitting the rear of the stopped vehicle.
The front of Szilagyi’s 2017 Dodge Ram truck then hit the rear of the Silverado.
After impact the first driver fled the scene northbound.
Szilagyi and passenger, Susan Szilagyi, 60, suffered suspected minor injuries and were taken by Lehighton ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital - Carbon Campus, Franklin Township.
