Family-run Home Comfort Solutions expanding after 5 years

Louis Accardi, the owner of Home Comfort Solutions residential heating, plumbing and air conditioning business in Lehighton, is celebrating five successful years in business.

It is a truly a family business. His mom, Dena Kistler, answers the phone and schedules all the service calls that come in. Kistler’s brother, Francis Hannon, along with Accardi’s son, Gaige work for him.

“It doesn’t get anymore family then this,” Accardi joked, and quickly added how lucky he is to have so much support from his family.

He is a man with several talents. Originally he studied and made a career in graphic design.

“Then there was a change and everything was going overseas and I decided to go back to school to learn a trade,” he said

That is where Accardi developed an interest in plumbing and oil burners. He was offered a job at King Fuel and took the job and worked in the service department and honed his skills.

As King Fuel’s business grew the owner no longer wanted the service department and just wanted to sell fuel oil.

“It was perfect timing because I just wanted to do service calls, so we split the business and that pretty much made it a seamless transition, between the businesses and I was basically starting off with around 3,000 customers,” he said.

The business offers servicing of oil and gas boilers and furnaces, heat pumps and ductless heat pumps, oil tank installations, gas and electric water heaters, water treatment & UV Systems,

well pumps and well tank replacements, sewer camera inspection, drain cleaning, general household plumbing and a variety of AC Installations and Repairs.

Five successful years

The business captured the top vote in the Times News Readers’ Choice contest three times, including this year.

When asked what made Home Comfort Solutions so successful in just five years, Accardi replied, “I think one reason is because we give back to the community. We support local and we work with other local businesses, and help out community services, like churches and the VFW and fire departments,” he said.

His business is part of the Downtown Partnership.

“I also do most of my advertising with the local booster clubs and that is the kind of marketing we are geared to. I pay for online marketing, but not to the volume of some of the competitors locally.”

He also believes being a family owned and operated business is an advantage.

You always get a voice when you call, not an answering machine.

His mom answers the phone round the clock since the business is being run from his home until the renovations are finished in their new building. They purchased the former LaRose insurance building on Cypress Street in Lehighton to relocate the expanding business.

“I am looking forward to moving into the new building. There will be room to park and I am going to be hiring more help and it will be nice that they can come to the business to be interviewed,” he said.
