The Northwestern boys cross country team closed in on another undefeated regular season with an impressive performance on Thursday.

Matthew Santana took the overall win as Northwestern swept a Colonial League meet.
Santana placed first in 16:35 as the Tigers moved to 21-0 with one week left in the regular season with wins over Catasauqua (15-50), Salisbury (15-49) and Southern Lehigh (25-30). Samuel Bower placed third for Northwestern, which went 24-0 last season, while Xander Giandomenico finished sixth.
Owen Hibell led Palmerton with a second-place finish, while Connor Hibell also got inside the top-five for Palmerton (fourth) and Dylan Hartranft placed eighth.
For the girls, Angelina Klein led the way for Northwestern with a third-place finish, while Emma Heil was the highest-finishing runner for Northern Lehigh in eighth (21:20), while Natalie Mosier paced Palmerton in 15th (22:46).

FIELD HOCKEY
Palmerton-No. Lehigh
Sydney Frantz registered four goals and Palmerton rolled to a 6-0 Colonial League win over Northern Lehigh.
Celeste Hoffman and Kira Hauser both scored for the Bombers, while Kelsey Balliet had two assists and Skylar Kohler added one.
Emily Bollinger (four saves) and Sara Sabo (three saves) split time in the cage for the Bombers (8-6, 7-6 CL).
Daisy Richards posted 17 saves for the Bulldogs (0-15, 0-13).
Pleasant Valley-Lehighton
Maggie Pagotto scored twice as Lehighton posted a 5-2 non-league win over Pleasant Valley.
Ava Kistner, Abby Bauder and Gabby Brown also scored for the Indians (7-8).
Matti Hyland and Heather Todaro both scored Pleasant Valley’s goals. Anayah Accilien and Liz Gouger also recorded assists for the Lady Bears (4-10-1).
Northwestern-Catasauqua
Cara Thomas and Brinley Rex each scored three goals in a 9-1 Northwestern victory over Catasauqua in Colonial League play.
Carsyn Van Norman and Hannah Gober also scored goals for the Tigers, while Julia Masters had an assist. Sophia Becker made 34 saves in the victory.
BOYS SOCCER
No. Schuylkill-Jim Thorpe
Ivan Turceniuk’s overtime goal lifted Jim Thorpe to a 4-3 Schuylkill League win over North Schuylkill.
Turceniuk also scored to cut the deficit to 3-2 in the second half before a goal by Jayden Chambers tied the contest to force overtime. Dawson Meckes scored for the Olympians (8-7) in the first half and assisted on all three second-half goals. Noah Geiser had an assist on the goal by Meckes. Blake Barberio made four saves in the win.
Evan Wagner and Angel Arroyo both scored in the first half to give the Spartans (5-9) a 2-0 lead. Arroyo added another goal in the second half to push North Schuylkill’s lead to 3-1 before the Olympians rallied. Kaden Onuschak made 12 saves.
Lehighton-Pine Grove
Josh Tobin’s goal in the first overtime lifted Pine Grove to a 3-2 Schuylkill League win over visiting Lehighton.
Bryce Schollenberger scored for the Cardinals (12-4) in the first half, which knotted things up at 1-1. Trey Kolb forced overtime with a late goal for Pine Grove in the second half.
Jacib Anthony got the Indians on the board first with a first-half goal. AJ Light put Lehighton up 2-1 early in the second half with a score, while Mason Marchessault and Matthew Sofranko each added assists.
Bryce Miller grabbed 13 saves the Indians.
Williams Valley-Weatherly
Williams Valley blanked Weatherly for a 5-0 Schuylkill League win.
Michael Davies finished with 11 saves for the Wreckers.
Weatherly slips to 2-13 overall (2-6 SL), while Williams Valley improves to 5-7-1 (4-4-1).
GIRLS SOCCER
Jim Thorpe-No. Lehigh
Jim Thorpe earned a program record for wins in a season with its 13th regular season victory in a 3-0 non-conference triumph over Northern Lehigh.
Mackenzie Yuhas led the Olympians (13-1-1) with two goals, while Nicole Carroll also scored. Riley Rushatz, Alexis Marotto and Lauren LeKites all had assists. Olivia Rosenberger grabbed six saves to preserve her 12th shutout on the season.
Dekotah Barthold finished with seven saves for the Bulldogs (10-8).
Tamaqua-Schuylkill Haven
Kimmy Rudy and Sarah Hope both scored goals in Tamaqua’s 2-0 victory against Schuylkill Haven.
Goalkeeper Cecilia Ulicny recorded a four-save shutout for the Blue Raiders (7-9).
Tamaqua also won the JV contest 3-0 on a three-goal game by Katie Fredericks.
ACC-Pleasant Vy.
Allentown Central Catholic posted a 7-0 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win over Pleasant Valley.
Madalyn Szoke and Lilah Sollott each scored two goals for the Vikings (12-1-1).
Pleasant Valley drops to 7-7-1.
VOLLEYBALL
Northwestern-Palmerton
Northwestern came out on top with a 25-11, 25-14, 25-7 Colonial League win over Palmerton.
The Tigers move to 11-4 over(ALL) and 5-3 in the Colonial League.
Jess Heydt led the Bombers (2-12, 0-8) with five kills and five digs, while Alysa Roe added four assists and three aces. Caylee Strohl recorded seven digs.
Pine Grove-Jim Thorpe
Pine Grove posted a big win in Schuylkill League Division 1 play, topping Jim Thorpe 25-20, 25-20, 17-25, 25-22.
The Cardinals move to 9-2 in the Division 1 standings, and 13-3 overall.
Brooke Mitzen had 16 kills and five digs for the Olympians (13-2, 10-2), who are now among three teams with two losses in Division 1 play, including Pottsville (9-2), which beat Jim Thorpe earlier this week.
Maggy Hallihan dished out 37 assists, five service points, three kills and two digs, while Kelsey Patton added four kills and four blocks, Leah Figura recorded 11 digs and four kills, while Brianna Snisky added 10 kills and five blocks.
Blue Mountain-Lehighton
Blue Mountain posted a 25-16, 25-17, 14-25, 25-16 Schuylkill League win over Lehighton.
Haley Ginder had three aces and seven kills for the Indians, while Madelyn Sofranko put up 10 assists and Mia Snyder also added eight assists.
Lorah Thomas recorded three aces, four kills and three blocks in the loss, and Madlynn Stoffey also had two aces and four kills for Lehighton.
Tamaqua-Lourdes
Lourdes posted a 25-23, 21-25, 25-19, 25-7 Schuylkill League win over Tamaqua.
Ashlyn Houser had two aces, three digs and seven kills for the Raiders (1-18). Nicole Mushock put up one kill and four blocks in the loss, while Eileen Lusch also added three aces and three kills. Kaylee Kuhn recorded four aces, four digs and three kills for Tamaqua.
Weatherly-Tri-Valley
Tri-Valley swept Weatherly 25-6, 25-12, 25-6.
Christal Kislan had three digs and one kill for the Wreckers (4-14). Kelly Michaels also had two digs and one kill for Weatherly.
