A Coaldale man is being sought by police on charges of burglary and assault following an incident that occurred on Sunday.

Borough police have charged Michael Kenneth Shannon, 28, of 322 Ridge Terrace, with one count each of burglary, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and terroristic threats, and two counts of simple assault.Police said about 1:20 p.m. officers were dispatched to 220 Fisher Ave. On scene the resident of the home, Tonia Girard, said about 1 p.m. she was in bed when Shannon entered the house and went upstairs to her bedroom. She said she told him to get out. Shannon then pushed her down onto the bed, grabbed her purse and ran out of the home.Girard chased him into a field behind Ridge Terrace. On East Phillip Street, she stated that she fell down and he turned around and said, "There isn't anything here," and called her a name.Shannon then headed back to Girard's home with her following. He re-entered the home and locked the door behind him.Girard said she had to break a glass on the door to get inside the house. She then told police she grabbed a kitchen knife and as Shannon was coming down from the upstairs she told him to stop and slapped him because he kept coming toward her.Shannon, Girard said, then pushed her into a kitchen counter top and her stomach hit the counter top. He then pinned her against the counter grabbing her hair with one hand and wrestling the knife from her other hand.Girard then stated that Shannon put the knife to her neck to stop her from fighting. He then backed away from her, threw the knife into the living room and ran out the back door.Girard said she went back upstairs and found her purse and wallet dumped out on the bed with three $20 bills taken from the purse along with her son's full prescription of Adderall XR25, that she had filled on Friday.Police canvassed the area to try and locate Shannon. Officers then went to his residence where his girlfriend, identified as Elizabeth Perez, said he was not home. She gave officers permission to search the home.Perez also told police that Shannon had left earlier in the day. She was told by police if she had contact with him to tell him police wanted to see him about the incident at the Girard residence.
