State police report on Lehigh County crashes
State police reported on the following crashes:
• A crash occurred at 7:45 a.m. Sept. 12 along Kings Highway at the intersection with Mosserville Road, in Lynn Township. David M. Freeby, 57, of Palmerton, was driving a 2007 Pontiac Vibe southbound and failed to properly make a left turn onto Mosserville Road and struck the guide rail along the berm. Freeby was not injured but the vehicle was towed. He was cited for the crash.
• Another crash that day occurred at 7:12 p.m. along Route 309 in Lynn Township. Troopers said Robert L. Kerns, 54, of Lehighton, was driving a Mazda 3 in the right lane and then merged into the left lane to pass a truck when his vehicle hydroplaned due to water on the roadway. Kerns lost control and swerved across the oncoming lane. The front end of the Mazda then struck a concrete barrier.
Kerns sustained a suspected minor injury but refused medical attention. The vehicle had to be towed. He was cited for a seat belt violation.
• No one was hurt in a two-vehicle crash at 6:06 a.m. Aug. 30 on Route 309 in Lynn Township.
Police said it happened when a 2003 Kenworth operated by Dillen T. Snyder, 27, of Kempton, turned in front of a 2019 Nissan Rogue operated by Rebecca S. Maley, 36, of Slatington, causing the collision.
The Nissan was towed from the scene.
Police said Snyder was cited for the crash.
• Two people sustained suspected minor injuries in a crash that happened at 10:12 a.m.. Aug. 26 at the intersection of Route 309 and Mountain Road in Lynn Township.
Police said Harvey E. Meckes, 73, the driver of one of the vehicles, and Sherry A. Meckes, 72, his passenger, were transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, for evaluation after the crash.
Police said a 2022 Ford F-150 driven by Meckes and a 2017 Volvo driven by Vladimir V. Savsyuk, 57, of Amherst, New York, were involved in the crash. Savsyuk was not injured.
