Palmerton Food Pantry
The CACPAC sponsored Food Pantry will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton on Sept.23 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. This pantry supports residents of the Palmerton Area School District only and you will need to show proof of residency and answer questions regarding your income. This is a drive-thru event, so remain in your vehicle and follow the instructions given by volunteers. If you are unable to attend someone may pick up for you.
The pantry is always in need of nonperishable food items, paper, and personal care items. Donations may be dropped off at 459 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. A box is on the front porch for the donations. Local churches are also collecting on a regular basis.
Annual Craft Show & Basket Social
Palmerton Cat Project’s Annual Craft Show & Basket Social will be held this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bethany Wesleyan Church, 457 Delaware Ave., Palmerton. They will have crafters, a basket social, and bake sale. Hot lunch items will also be available for purchase.
Library Board
The Palmerton Area Library Board of Directors will meet on Sept. 21 at 4 p.m. The board meets the third Wednesday of each month and meetings are open to the public.
Third Monday Book Club
The Third Monday Book Club will meet Monday and the third Monday of each month at the Palmerton Area Library from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. to discuss a different book each month.
The book for September is “Anna Karenina” by Leo Tolstoy. The book for October is “The Judge’s List” by John Grisham and November is “Oil and Marble” by Stephanie Storey.
Addison’s disease Awareness
Bingo, direct sale vendors, food, local crafts, tricky tray, bake sale and more will be held this Saturday 12 to 5 p.m. at the Aquashicola Fire Company, 270 Little Gap Road, Palmerton.
Yard sale/Craft fair
A Flea Market/Yard Sale/ Crafters sale will be held at the Towamensing Township Volunteer Fire Company, Saturday. Food and refreshments available for purchase, an auction, and 50/50 drawing.
Living Hope Lighthouse Church
Sunday is National Back to Church Sunday.
Join together at Living Hope Lighthouse Church, 705 Third St., Palmerton at 10 a.m. and find the hope you are needing. They will have a light lunch in Fellowship Hall following the service.
Historical Society
The Palmerton Area Historical Society will be having a September program on Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the Palmerton Library’s Knight’s Gallery. Dan and Lee Kunkle and Dennis DeMara from the Carbon County Citizens for Water, Farms, and Land will be the speakers.
