Open House
Families with children attending the Pleasant Valley Elementary School are reminded the school’s Open House will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight.
McMichaels UMC
McMichaels UMC is holding a homemade pizza sale. They are 12-inch cheese pizzas only. Orders are due by Thursday. Call Martha Stout at 570-992-6742 to place an order.
Order information has to include your name, phone number, and how many pizzas one is ordering.
The church also reminds folks that A.A. will meet at the church every Wednesday at noon and Saturday evening at 6:30. Many people have found this class to be very helpful. Come and join those who understand what you are experiencing. There is no charge for the class. The meetings are confidential.
The church also extends an invitation to anyone who wishes to join it on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. on Zoom for Bible Study. Anyone interested is asked to call Pastor Ed Unangst at 610-597-1030 and provide him with an email address.
School Board
The Pleasant Valley School District Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the District Administration Building.
Karaoke Night
The American Legion Post 927, Gilbert, is hosting an open-to-community Karaoke night from 7 p.m. until the Post closes Friday.
Breakfast set
McMichaels UMC will host a breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday.
The community is welcome.
Effort pantry
The Supplemental Food Resource Center at Effort UMC will be open from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday. It is a drive up/pick up service only.
The pantry is accepting any nonperishable items and holiday items such as boxed cakes, frosting, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry, veggies.
Art Opening
Artist Will Daskal will be greeting the public from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Saturday, the day of his art opening, Pocono Bucolic Splendor, at the Monroe County Environmental Eduction Center.

Concert set
The fourth Garden of Giving fundraising concert will be held at the First Presbyterian Church off of Main Street in Stroudsburg at 6 p.m., Saturday, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m., with a reception to follow.
Organized by local pianist Ruth Kochera, 13 artists will be performing.

Riders meet
American Legion Post 927 Riders will be meeting at 10:30 a.m. Sunday for a regular monthly meeting.
Rally Day held
St. Matthew’s UCC, Kunkletown, will hold its Rally Day at 10:30 a.m., Sunday in the church grove with various special things. Among them: cupcakes and juice, an ice breaker introduction game, and bounce house to kick off the new school year.
9/11 ceremony
American Legion Post 927, Gilbert, will host a 9/11 Remembrance ceremony at 11 a.m. on Sunday. It is an open to community event. A light lunch will be provided.
Ladies Auxiliary
St. John’s Lutheran Church, Effort, ladies Auxiliary, will meet at noon Monday. Attendees are asked to bring lunch.
The group continues to collect nonperishable food for the PVEN and also can tabs for the Ronald McDonald House.
For September, the church Bucket fund is designated for Lutheran Disaster Response.
