PVI Open House

Pleasant Valley Intermediate School is holding its Open House tonight from 5 to 7 p.m.

Induction tomorrow

The West End Memorial American Legion Post 927 will hold its annual Officers Induction ceremony at 6:30 p.m., tomorrow, at the Legion Post home in Gilbert.

There will be guest speakers and light refreshments.

Legion Bike Night

A Bikers event will be held Saturday at the American Legion in Gilbert from 5 to 9 p.m. All bikes are welcome.

There will be a Best Bike contest and the community is welcome.

Food will be available and there will be a 50/50 drawing.

Communion set

St. Peter’s UMC, Saylorsburg, will offer Holy Communion this Sunday to all believers.

The worship service begins at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary and is also offered on Facebook Live via streaming, by logging onto www.facebook.com/petersumc.saylorsburg

St. John’s Lutheran, Effort, will celebrate Holy Communion at its 9:30 a.m. service.

The church has a Bucket Fund and has recently sent the June collection to Hospice and the next to Bear Creek Camp.

Outdoor worship

Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Kresgeville extends an invitation for worshippers to join this Sunday’s worship service being held outdoors at 10:30 a.m. in the Faith garden.

Bring lawn chairs or a blanket and join church family members directly after at 11 a.m. for some fun with outdoor games, crafts and fellowship are the instructions.

Sunday services are at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m.

Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church, Brodheadsville, will hold a family reunion following the second service. Attendees must sign up.

Ross Supervisors

Due to Monday being a holiday, the Ross Township Board of Supervisors will be meeting next Monday at 6 p.m.

Prayer Shawl

Effort UMC’s Prayer Shawl group will meet from 10:30 to 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Home association

The West End Home Association of the American Legion, Post 927, will hold its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Legion Post home in Gilbert.

Thinking snow

Effort UMC is seeking bids for the 2022-2023 season of snow removal.

Day of Caring

United Way’s annual Day of Caring is the largest single day of community service in Monroe County. Visit www.VolunteerMonroe.org to sign-up to volunteer.

Any West End agency which would like to submit Day of Caring projects, can contact Todd Nemura at Todd@poconounitedway.org or call 570-517-3953 to ascertain if there are still volunteers who can serve.

The local Day of Caring for Monroe County and campaign kickoff will be held at 8 a.m., next Thursday-in person- at the Barley Creek Brewing Company in Tannersville.

PVE Open House

Families with children attending the Pleasant Valley Elementary School are reminded the school’s Open House will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 7.

Pizza orders

McMichaels UMC is holding a homemade pizza sale. They are 12-inch cheese pizzas only. Orders are due by Sept. 8. One can call Martha Stout at 570-992-6742 to place said order.

Order information has to include one’s name, phone number, and how many pizzas one is ordering.

The church also reminds folks that A.A. will meet at the church every Wednesday at noon and Saturday evening at 6:30. Many people have found this class to be very helpful. Come and join those who understand what you are experiencing. There is no charge for the class. The meetings are confidential.

The church also extends an invitation to anyone who wishes to join it on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. on Zoom for Bible Study.

Concert set

The fourth Garden of Giving fundraising concert will be held at the First Presbyterian Church off of Main Street in Stroudsburg at 6 p.m., Sept. 10, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m., with a reception to follow. Thirteen musical artists will be performing.
