Marian High School graduate Daniel Keer is enjoying an outstanding baseball season for Division 2 Shepherd University.
Keer, a sophomore, is currently leading the Mountain East Conference in batting average with a sizzling .469 mark.
Since breaking into the starting lineup as the Rams’ designated hitter a couple of weeks ago, Keer has been putting up big numbers. In 12 games — eight as a starter — Keer has 15 hits in 32 atbats. He has seven doubles, has scored 11 runs, and knocked in 10. He has also drawn six base on balls. Keer has a .553 on base percentage and a .688 slugging average.
Shepherd is in first place in the MEC North Division with a 6-2 mark. The Rams are 15-9 overall.
Keer, the 2017 Times News Baseball Player of the Year, hit .294 a year ago as a freshman for Shepherd, playing in 15 games and starting one.
