Palmerton Concourse Club names Guiding Star winners
The Concourse Club of Palmerton has recognized five female high school seniors for their outstanding academic achievements, leadership skills in extracurricular activities, and involvement in our community.
The seniors - Emma Grace Christman, Hannah Grace Citron, Grace Emma-Lee Heist, Erin Kate Kistler, and Isabella Mujevic - received a certificate, a check, and an engraved star for their recognition.
Emma Grace Christman
Emma is the daughter of Rebecca and James Christman. She has two brothers, Tyler and Eli. In her free time, Emma enjoys hiking, kayaking, playing sports, and spending time with her friends.
Her extracurricular activities include FBLA, Environmental Club, Student Council, Leo Club, National Honor Society, varsity field hockey as well as varsity track and field. Emma also makes it a priority to interact with younger students in order to increase their involvement in activities.
Outside of school Emma volunteers at her church by assisting with Sunday school. In addition, she works as a counselor for the Summer Recreation Program and volunteers at the public library when time permits. Emma’s previous awards include First in FBLA Personal Finance Event during regionals as well as first in FBLA Database event during regionals.
Her plans include attending Salisbury University to study social work. She intends to continue her athletic endeavors in both track and field hockey.
Emma’s dream occupation would be to, one day, use her social work degree to help children in the foster care system.
Hannah Grace Citron
Hannah, the daughter of Pam and Todd Jones and Mark Citron, has a sister, Taylor and a brother, Ethan.
In her free time, Hannah enjoys art, playing video games, and spending time with close friends.
Hannah’s extracurricular activities include secretary of Stage Crew, president of Film Club, Art Club, writing for the school newspaper, secretary of Palmerton Against Animal Cruelty, Chorus, and National Honor Society.
Outside of school, Hannah’s community activities include, volunteering at both the Lehigh Valley Zoo and Carbon County Friends of Animals Shelter. Hannah’s previous accolades include high honor roll and being ranked 7th in her class.
Hannah is looking forward to attending Delaware Valley University where she’ll be a zoo science major. Emma’s dream job would be to become a zookeeper at either the Philadelphia Zoo or the Lehigh Valley Zoo.
Grace Emma-Lee Heist
Grace, the daughter of Carly and Troy Heist, has three siblings, Aiden, Caleb, and Violet.
In her free time, Grace enjoys painting, drawing, reading, baking, and playing instruments.
Her extracurricular activities include concert band, marching band, chorus, drama club, National Honor Society, county band, and the school store.
Grace’s community activities include cooking for Family Promise, teaching Bible School during the summer months, helping to clean up the community, and volunteering at the community festival. Additionally, she plays in the Palmerton and Lehighton community bands. Grace’s previous awards and honors include three county band medals, two PMEA District 10 Band medals, outstanding participant award for HS Band 2020-2021, Most Improved Player Award for HS Band 2018-2019, certificate of recognition in PHS Virtual Band 2021, National Honor Society, and homecoming queen.
Grace is looking forward to attending West Chester University where she’ll major in music education. Her dream job is to become a music teacher so she can teach children how to play instruments the way her teachers taught her.
Erin Kate Kistler
Erin, the daughter of Vicki and Brent Kistler, has a brother Mason.
In her free time Erin enjoys spending time with her family and friends as well as spending time at the lake and gym. She also enjoys skiing, hiking, kayaking, and field hockey.
Erin’s extracurricular activities include field hockey, where she spent two years as captain; president of the Leo Club, vice president of Student Council, National Honor Society, FBLA, and Environmental Club.
Erin’s community involvement includes coaching 6-year-olds with the Blue Mountain Racing Program. Her previous awards and honors were earned through FBLA. In her junior year those include, Computer Applications 1 where she earned second in the region and fourth in the state. It also earned her a National Competitor spot. While in her senior year, Erin was second in the region in the Database category which qualified her for states in April.
She’s looking forward to attending York College of Pennsylvania, where she’ll focus her studies on nursing. Erin also intends on playing field hockey during her time there. Her dream job would be to get paid to travel the globe.
Isabella Madija Mujevic
Isabella, the daughter of April and Isa Mujevic, has a sister, Ilana.
In her free time Isabella is a member of Dance Fusion Performing Arts Studio, dance ETHOS apprentice company, and LVDE Moves. She also travels to NYC to model with “For Real” New York City Model Management.
Isabella’s extracurricular activities include environmental club president, class secretary, National Honor Society secretary, student council, Leo Club, girls varsity soccer captain, and PASD Comprehensive Planning Committee student representative.
Isabella volunteers often throughout the community, with two of her passions being the DCNR as well as the Friends of Beltzville State Park. Her previous accomplishments include being a member of the National Honor Society as well as being recognized by the school for her high honors.
She plans to major in environmental studies at one of the eight colleges of her choosing. Her dream job going forward would be to help the planet find sustainable solutions to fight climate change.
