A motion was made at the Franklin Township Supervisors meeting to approve Zachary Wilusz’ Eagle Scout Project.
The project will be to improve the seating and add a “Nature Viewing Area” at Phifer’s Ice Dam, Franklin Township.
Wilusz is a member of Lehighton Boy Scout Troop 187.
Scouting is in the Wilusz family. Zachary’s brother, Daniel, also became an Eagle Scout in July 2020.
His project was to build a lending library at Phifer’s Ice Dam.
Becoming an Eagle Scout is the highest honor in the Scouting program, involving a strong dedication to the organization and the completion of a service project to benefit the community.
Other business
The Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company provided its monthly report for June: 14 calls, including six mutual aid calls, two crashes, two vehicle fires, two automatic alarms, one tree on roadway, and one smoke investigation.
The Franklin Township Fire Police Report for June included 19 calls: seven crashes, two dwelling fires, one tree down, two vehicle fires, two automatic fire alarm, two parking assists, two mutual aid, and one smoke investigation.
A motion was made to cash out the maturing PLGIT CD (Western Alliance Bank, AZ), which matures July 22, 2022 (value $248,496.00) and a Jim Thorpe Neighborhood Bank CD, which matures July 23, 2022 (value $207,285.89). The funds will be put into a fund for upcoming township building projects.
