Driver in Schuylkill bus crash won’t be charged

The driver in a Schuylkill County charter bus crash which injured 31 people last September had a medical emergency, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Adam Wright, 37, of Lancaster, will not face charges for the crash, state police said Friday. Wright was driving a bus carrying a group of children and adults who were returning from a church retreat.

Police said video showed that Wright had a medical emergency and lost consciousness prior to the crash.

The Van Hool CX45 Motorcoach he was driving went off the interstate, crossed an exit ramp and Route 25, struck a dirt embankment and landed in a group of trees.

Wright and all the other occupants were injured and transported to area hospitals.

Police said their determination was made in consultation with the Schuylkill County District Attorney Michael O’Pake. and was based on review of the video, police report and medical records.
