State Police at Fern Ridge
State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported on crashes investigated by troopers.
• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 1:09 p.m. on July 12 along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Sylvia J. Piserchio, 59, of Stroudsburg, was driving a 2020 Nissan Pathfinder westbound when a deer entered the road in front of her. She could not avoid the animal and struck it with the front passenger side.
Piserchio and four passengers suffered suspected minor injuries and were all treated at the scene by Lake Harmony and Lehighton ambulance personnel.
• A crash was reported at 10:59 p.m. on July 14 along Route 115 in Tunkhannock Township, Monroe County. The drivers involved were identified as Jonathan Housenick, 32, of Blakeslee, driving a 2019 Ford Explorer; and Andrea K. Giannakis, 30, also of Blakeslee, driving a 2017 Nissan Rogue. No injuries were reported. No details of the crash were released by police.
• A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 209 and Route 115, in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County, at 5:02 p.m. Monday.
Troopers said Douglas H. Footit, 19, of Saylorsburg, driving a 2013 Ford Transit Connect van, and Simon P. Tomaszewski, 24, of Lehighton, driving a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze, were both eastbound on 209 when Tomaszewski slowed to yield to traffic on 115. Footit failed to slow down with his vehicle striking the rear of Tomaszewski’s vehicle with the front end of his vehicle.
Both drivers refused medical treatment. Both vehicles were towed.
Footit was cited for following too closely
• Chelbie L. Bowers, 26, of Gilbert, was cited after a one-vehicle mishap at 11:25 a.m.. June 29 on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.
Police said she was driving a 2007 Ford Focus northbound when the incident took place.
Neither she nor a 2-year-old boy who was in the car were injured, police said.
