An ordinance that would open a portion of an alley in Walnutport is set for adoption next month.
Several residents attended Thursday’s borough council meeting to hear more about the ordinance that would open Spadt Alley from South Lincoln Avenue to the proposed Williams Street extension.
Borough solicitor Michael Corriere said the ordinance would lay out Spadt Alley from South Lincoln Avenue to the proposed Williams Street extension.
Corriere noted that Spadt Alley has never been opened nor accessible to the public.
He added that council believes laying out Spadt Alley would benefit the abutting property owners and the public at large.
One resident said that the residents have been maintaining the alley, and therefore do not want to have it opened.
Corriere said he understood the concerns.
“I think it was the intent to make it better for property owners,” Corriere said.
A public hearing on the Spadt Alley ordinance is scheduled to be held when council meets at 7 p.m. Aug. 11.
