State police at Frackville — crashes

State police at Frackville reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers on Schuylkill County roadways.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 2:41 p.m. on July 6 at the intersection of routes 309 and 54 in Rush Township. Troopers said Kennedy M. Young, 19, of Tamaqua, was driving a 2011 Jeep Patriot eastbound on 54 while James D. Lang, 60, of Tamaqua, was driving a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox westbound on 54. At the intersection Young attempted to turn left onto 309 and her vehicle was struck by Lang’s vehicle.

Young and three passengers, all girls ages 16, 16 and 17, were not injured. Lang and his passenger, a 15-year-old girl from Tamaqua, were taken to St. Luke’s Miners Campus in Coaldale.

Young was cited for the crash.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 11:34 a.m. on July 15 along Interstate 81 in Delano Township. Troopers said Shane W. Starkey, 26, of Mahanoy City, was driving a 2019 Honda HRV southbound when he said he looked down to access a map on his phone. When he looked up he saw a stone on the road, swerved to avoid it but lost control. The HRV crossed the southbound lane and then left the road and struck a stone embankment, then rolled over and coming to rest back on its wheels. Starkey was not injured.

He was cited for the crash.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 1:02 a.m. on July 11 along Morea Road in Mahanoy Township. Troopers said Santo A. Torres, 20, of Frackville, was driving a 2012 Ford Focus eastbound when he said there was an animal in the right lane of travel. He attempted to avoid the animal and subsequently hit a grass embankment along the berm with the vehicle rolling over several times before coming to rest.

No one was injured. The vehicle sustained heavy damages and had to be towed.

• A one-vehicle crash occurred at 10:41 a.m. on June 28 along West Main Street in Ringtown borough. Troopers said Lesley L. Cauley, 41, of McAdoo, was driving a 2019 Dodge Caravan westbound and approaching a slight left hand curve. Cauley failed to turn the vehicle and it struck a large boulder in a yard along the berm. After that impact the vehicle continued further into the yard and struck a tree and cut it in half.

Cauley was taken with a suspected minor injury to St. Luke’s Miners Campus in Coaldale, by Shenandoah ambulance.

He was cited for the crash.
