Local Roundup: Results from July 11
Towamensing and Tamaqua Blue both opened the Panther Valley 8-10 Little League tournament with wins on Monday.
Towamensing downed Anthracite, while Tamaqua Blue rolled past Jim Thorpe.

Anthracite-Towamensing
Towamensing outscored Anthracite by an 18-11 score in both teams’ Panther Valley Little League tournament opener.
Brady Ivancich collected three hits, walked twice and scored three runs to lead Towamensing offensively.
Zack Zelinsky scored three times and also earned the pitching win, while Charlie Borger added two hits and closed out the game on the mound.
For Anthracite, Kace Kobler had three hits and scored two runs. Cooper Lynn also chipped in with a pair of hits and three runs.
Tamaqua Blue-Jim Thorpe
Tamaqua Blue piled up the runs in its PVLL tournament opener, cruising to a 23-2 victory over Jim Thorpe.
Joey Vidzicki led a potent offense by going 3-for-3 for a walk. He scored four times and knocked in two runs.
Porter Wilson also reached base in all four of his plate appearances, finishing with two hits and two walks. Wilson scored four runs and added two RBIs. Brady Bartczak, meanwhile, had three hits, three runs and three RBIs.
The winners also received two hits, two RBIs and a run from Adilynn O’Gurek, while Tavin Makovec contributed a pair of hits (one a triple), a run and an RBI. Cain Conner chipped in with two hits and a run.

In a game from Sunday, the Franklin Township12 squad hung on to post an 8-7 victory over Tamaqua11.
Chase Llewellyn had two hits for the winners, who rallied from an early three-run deficit. Alex Bedocs and Cash White both contributed a hit and an RBI.
For Tamaqua, Gavin Shannan had two hits (including a home run), knocked in three runs and scored three times. Troy Hartman also collected a hit and had two RBIs, while Chayse Smith chipped in with a hit and an RBI.
