The son of a former Tamaqua resident who graduated from Marian Catholic High School earned a bachelor’s degree in international economics and finance, with a minor in accounting, as a dean’s list student at Catholic University, Washington, D.C.
David Angelo, son of David and Lynda Angelo of West Chester, and grandson of John and Jean Angelo of Tamaqua, was the recipient of the Martin Dowd Role Model Award winner, one of six major awards given at Catholic during its athletic department’s senior awards ceremony.
The award is given to a male student-athlete who exudes graciousness in victory, humility in defeat and rallies their peers to consistently compete at a high level in athletics and beyond.
His father graduated from Marian in 1983, is an inductee in the Marian Sports Hall of Fame, and went on to play football for the CU Cardinals. His mother ran cross country there.
David was a four-year member of the Catholic basketball team and captained the squad as a senior. He was also named to the 2021 Landmark Conference Winter All-Sportsmanship Team.
A three-time conference Academic Honor Roll selection, he was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Honor Court in 2021.
Off the court, David was a member of the Catholic University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and served as Co-President while serving as a student leader for Special Olympics and Brookland Field Day.
