July 9, 1988 - Summit Hill’s Joe Gillespie and Tamaqua’s Ray Trevorah both hit two-run homers to power the West team to an 11-2 victory over the East in the Carbon-Schuylkill Youth Baseball League 15-year-old all-star game. Gillespie’s blast comes in the bottom of the first inning to give his team a 2-1 lead. Trevorah’s shot occurs in the third as the West extends its advantage to 5-1. Gillespie earns game MVP honors, as he also finishes with a double, two stolen bases and four runs scored. Mark Paluck adds an RBI double, while Craig Goida and Joe Ruggeri chip in with run-scoring singles.
