A Monroe County man was jailed on Monday, charged with attempted homicide.

State police at Stroudsburg said at 4:11 a.m. Monday troopers were dispatched to Resica Falls Road in Middle Smithfield Township, for a report of a shooting.

Through an investigation it was determined that an altercation took place within a residence which led to the shooting.

The victim, a 47-year-old woman, was shot in the face. Troopers did not release any information relative to her condition or medical treatment.

Tomasz Michalski, 42, of Stroudsburg, was charged with attempted homicide and two counts of aggravated assault to cause or cause serious bodily harm.

He was arraigned before a district judge and committed to the county prison in Snydersville. Trooper said there is no threat to the public or community members in the area.

Troopers said additional information may be released at a later date.
