Schuylkill County commissioners approved a number of actions on Wednesday, June 7.
• Recommended that the county visitors bureau appoint Frank Zukas to the board as county representative.
Zukas is president of the Schuylkill Economic Development Corporation.
• Approved a public utility right of way agreement with UGI Utilities Inc. for both a permanent and temporary construction easement on a parcel of county-owned land off Gordon Mountain Road in Butler Township.
The easements are to construct, operate, maintain, repair, extend, replace, remove, and from time to time, reconstruct and renew a gas pipeline or lines.
The easement is a 30 foot strip of land. The county is being compensated $83,003.58 for both the permanent and the construction easement.
• Approved an encroachment agreement with PPL Electric Utilities Corp. along Keystone Boulevard. The agreement allows PPL the right to and privilege of ingress, egress, and regress, and to construct, reconstruct, operate, and maintain its electric and communications facilities along the county-owned Keystone Boulevard.
• Reappointed Dorothy Moran of Pottsville to the Office of Senior Services advisory board from June 1 to May 31, 2025.
• In personnel moves the Children And Youth Services Agency hired five new clerk typists: Brenda Moran Delgado, Tremont; Karla Schwartz, Zerbe; Sarah Sheipe, Orwigsburg; Ashley Teichman, Tamaqua, and Carrie Hart, Minersville. Each will earn $13.71 an hour.
