Pleasant Valley’s Andrew Meitzler will continue his academic and athletic career at Penn State-Hazleton, where he will play baseball.

Meitzler has been a mainstay at catcher in his two years on the varsity squad for the Bears, where he has compiled a .388 batting average, 49 hits and 34 RBIs in 42 career games.

He helped Pleasant Valley finish with a 14-6 overall record - including an 11-5 mark in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference - and clinch playoff berths in both the EPC and District 11.

Meitzler was named a scholar athlete this past season, and was named to the First Team at catcher in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference North Division as a junior.

He graduated from Pleasant Valley with cum laude honors.

The son of Mike and Sherri Meitzler, Andrew will study civil engineering at Penn State-Hazleton.
