Carbon County’s new emergency manager, Mark Nalesnik, of Nesquehoning, will begin his new duties on Monday.
Nalesnik was hired Thursday by the county commissioners to succeed Glenn D. Kelchner, a retired Allentown firefighter who vacated the position this week.
Nalesnik has a long list of work with emergency services, including being a 29-year member of the Nesquehoning Hose Co. and serving on the Northeast Pennsylvania Counter Terrorism Task Force, the Carbon County Decon Task Force and the Carbon County Local Emergency Planning Committee. He is also a part-time deputy sheriff for the county.
