Police have identified the man whose body was found Friday morning in Lehighton.

Gabe Szozda, officer in charge, Lehighton Police Department, said the man whose body was found in the water next to Baer Memorial Swimming Pool is Ron Strohl, 82, of Lehighton.

Szozda said an autopsy performed Saturday showed nothing suspicious, and added it’s still an open investigation until they get results from the Carbon County Coroner’s Office.

County Coroner Robert Miller said Friday night the body was found “just downstream from the Ashtown bridge right next to the (Baer Memorial swimming) pool.”

Miller said at that time he was told several workers from Verizon were working on the lines and found it.

Szozda said Mahoning Township Police assisted at the scene.
