St. Mark’s & St. John’s Episcopal Church on Race Street in Jim Thorpe are once again offering tours.
John Horvath, the church’s longtime tour guide, passed away earlier this year. The church will continue his legacy and offer tours of the historic church, as well as walking tours of the area.
The church, a National Registered Historic Landmark, was designed by architect Richard Upjohn, was completed in 1869, and features beautiful tile floors, wood and marble furnishings, art work, Tiffany stained-glass windows, an original Otis elevator, and a three-manual pipe organ. Church tours run for about 30 minutes.
The 30-minute church tour is offered Wednesdays through Sundays from May/June to October noon to 4 p.m.
Tickets are $5 per person.
The walking tour runs about 45 minutes, and begins at St. Mark’s church. Walking tours will begin on June 15. Tickets will be $15 per adult, $10 per child 12 to 18, and free for children 12 and under.
Arrangements can be made for private groups as well. Contact the church at 570-325-2241 or email markjhn1@ptd.net.
Tours will be resuming at St. Mark's & St. John's Episcopal Church on Race Street in Jim Thorpe. JAMES LOGUE JR./SPECIAL TO THE TIMES NEWS
