TOPS tonight

TOPS PA 1113 Kresgeville has changed its meeting site to Salem-St. Paul Lutheran Church, 138 Trach Road, Kresgeville, 18333, starting tonight.

Anyone who has failed in the past or is currently interested in losing weight and sustaining that weight loss, may be able to get help from this group and learn how to live with a healthier lifestyle.

The group meets at 6 p.m. every Wednesday. Attendees are invited come early for a short social gathering and then an informative meeting.

Carnival begins

Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the West End Fireman’s carnival is scheduled to take place at the West End Fairgrounds in Gilbert. The proceeds from that event will benefit the four local fire companies.

Bands being featured include: starting at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, The Hawks and the Cramer Brothers Band; starting at 5:45 p.m., Friday, Chris Eckert and the Brian Dean Moore Band; and Saturday, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., Brothers; and from 6 to 9 p.m., Midnight Special.

Various foods and drinks will be available every night.

Sponsors are still being sought and craft vendors wanted.

Legion meeting

Post 927, West End Memorial American Legion Post 927 members meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Donation Days

The Queen of Peace church’s flea market is coming soon. Donation days are from noon to 6 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Brotherhood meets

The Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church Brotherhood is meeting at 9 a.m. for breakfast and a Bible study at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Triple Treat here

Salem UCC, Gilbert, is hosting a Triple Treat event Saturday and Sunday. Those treats are: an ice cream social, a basket raffle and a yard sale.

The ice cream portion will be available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days with other light refreshment also for sale.

The basket raffle, with many great prizes, will be available from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the winning tickets drawn at 3 p.m., Sunday.

The yard sale allows one to rent a 10-by-10-foot space for one or both days to sell one’s items for a set fee per day. For rates call 610-681-4733.

Tables and chairs are not provided; renters must bring their own.

Bike Night held

The public is invited to the Bike Night at the Legion in Gilbert, from 5 to 9 p.m., Saturday. It will include at Best Bike contest.

Burgers, dogs, sides, cash bar and a 50/50 drawing are part of the evening.

Zion services

Zion Lutheran Church, Brodheadsville, has the following worship schedule: Saturdays at 5 p.m., Sundays at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary. Masks are optional, but encouraged. If one is not feeling well or not able or comfortable attending in person, one can explore these other options. The 8 a.m. service is broadcast via Zoom; the 10:30 service is broadcast via Facebook Live; and a simple, prerecorded spoken service is also available each week on Facebook.

Sunday school is on summer recess.

Free kids meals

The PVEN’s free summer meals available for kids 18 and under begin Tuesday. Meals must be eaten on site as grab and go meals are not available at this time due to a change in USDA regulations.

Anyone with children age 18 and under is encouraged to take advantage of this free meal service at the Chestnuthill Park on Route 715, Brodheadsville, Mondays from 12:30 to 1 p.m.; Western Pocono Community Library, Brodheadsville, Tuesdays, from 11:30 a.m. to noon; or the Sun Valley Fire Station in Effort, Thursdays from 12:30 to 1 p.m.

Healthier eating

The Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program will be offered again this year to eligible Monroe County Seniors.

Older adults residing in Monroe County who are 60 years of age or older, by Dec. 31, 2022, who meet the income guidelines, $25,142 for one person in the household; or $33,874 for two people in the household, are eligible to participate in the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program.

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church is seeking congregational volunteers to help with June’s 24-hour Adoration for Friday after the daily Mass, through the Saturday morning Mass.

This Saturday, the West End Food Pantry in Kunkletown be open from 9 a.m. to noon.

Confirmation held

This coming Sunday is Pentecost Sunday celebrated in many churches. Confirmation will be celebrated at all Masses at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church.

Ross Supers meet

The Ross Township Supervisors meet the first Monday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Ross Township municipal building on Anchorage Road in Saylorsburg.

Bingo time

The local American Legion continues to host Monday night Bingo every Monday at 6:30 p.m.

Prayer Shawl group

Effort UMC’s Prayer Shawl group will meet from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Monthly meeting

The West End Home Association for the American Legion Post 927 will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Saylorsburg concert

On June 8, the first concert, as hosted by the Sherman Theater, will be presented at the Saylorsburg Blue Ridge Flea Market.

The B Street Band will present a Tribute to Bruce Springsteen.
