State police at Lehighton - crashes

State police at Lehighton reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers.

• A one-vehicle crash occurred at 7:24 a.m. on May 21 along Interchange Road (Route 209) in Polk Township, Monroe County.

Troopers said Steven C. Craft, 55, of Palmerton, was driving a 2008 Subaru Legacy southbound when the vehicle went onto the shoulder and struck a utility pole, then traveled down into a grassy ditch where it came to rest.

Craft was not injured, but the vehicle had to be towed.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 10:37 p.m. on May 20 along Hunter Street (Route 93), in Nesquehoning. Troopers said Jeremiah L. Ortiz, 19, of Lansford, was driving a 2006 Mazda 3 southbound when he lost control of the vehicle, struck an embankment on the east side of the road, and came to final rest on the west side of the road.

Ortiz was evaluated at the scene by medical personnel and released with minor injuries. The vehicle had to be towed. Ortiz was cited for the crash.

• Another one-vehicle crash occurred on May 18 at 12:55 p.m. along Route 248 near the Palmerton exit in Lower Towamensing Township.

Troopers said Gregory M. Considine, 37, of Lehighton, was driving a 2005 Honda Accord when it left the east side of the road due to Considine having medical complications. The vehicle struck a sign before coming to rest on top of a concrete retaining wall.

Considine was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest.

He was cited for the crash.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 11:05 a.m. on April 20 at the intersection of Aspen Drive and Pleasant View Drive, in Polk Township.

Troopers said Valara Hartman, 91, of Kunkletown, was driving a 2001 Subaru Outback and traveled through the intersection with her vehicle, striking a fence post and landing in a yard on Aspen Road. The vehicle struck a deck on a home at that location causing severe damages to the deck.

Hartman was not injured, but the vehicle was towed.
