JT Community Watch residents recognized for their hard work
Citizens of Jim Thorpe met at Memorial Hall for the final Community Watch meeting of the year. Recognition awards were given to members of the community.
Community Watch Coordinator, Jamie Solomon, presented the awards to certain members of the Community Watch for their hard work and "going the extra mile."The Recognition Award recipients were: Helene Marchione (Community Watch Treasurer), JoAnn McGavin, Lenny McGavin, Phyllis Lienhard, Emma Marzen, and Keith Frankenfield.Solomon thanked the award recipients and all members of the Community Watch for all their dedication to keeping the community safe.Solomon also thanked Mayor Michael Sofranko, Police Chief Joseph Schatz, Sergeant Mike Bokeko, Patrolman Eric Schrantz, and the Police Department for all their hard work.The Community Watch works in correlation with the Jim Thorpe Police Department. The Community Watch group keeps and eye out in the community and works to improve the quality of living. Citizens are taught how to recognize suspicious activity and to report it to the Police Department."I want to thank the community for their support. The Community Watch group has grown and it's a great way to reach out to the community," stated Sofranko.Due to the holiday season and upcoming weather patterns the Community Watch had its final meeting for the year. Regular monthly meetings will start up again next year.
