Carbon County is ready for the upcoming election, officials report.
On Thursday, the board approved the voter registration totals for the primary on Tuesday.
Of the 36,822 eligible voters, 15,582 are Democrat and 21,240 are Republican. Only these two parties can vote in the primary.
The county election office has also sent out over 3,500 ballots and has received just over 2,100 completed ones back, bringing the rate of return to 61 percent.
“We encourage everyone who hasn’t sent in their ballot to please do so, because voting is so important,” said Carol Etheridge, assistant elections director.
She added that all polling place positions have been filled and the bureau is ready for the election.
If you have a mail-in ballot and would like to drop it off, this can be done at the bureau office at 44 Susquehanna St., Jim Thorpe. Note that the office has moved into its permanent location and is not in the former Jim Thorpe Administration Building any longer.
