State police at Bethlehem are investigating a disturbance at the KidsPeace juvenile facility located in North Whitehall Township, Lehigh County.

Troopers said at 8:19 p.m. on Sunday they went to the facility for a report of a disturbance.

It was determined that a large disturbance occurred in the mental health unit at the hospital.

During troopers’ response to the unit, a 14-year-old girl from New Tripoli attempted to strike one of the troopers with a closed fist.

During the disturbance, the same teen assaulted a nurse by striking her in the face with a closed fist.

The teen also grabbed the nurse by the hair during the incident.

Charges are pending against the teen, troopers said.
