A large brass plaque bearing the names of 359 charter members of the Mahoning Valley Fire Company was unveiled Sunday by fire company officials.

David Pollock, fire chief and master of ceremonies for the program, said the company was founded in 1950 when a fund drive was started to help it get started. People who donated at least $2 at the time were recorded as being charter members of the company.

Andrew Strauss was the first treasurer of the company.
