A man was taken to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after a tree crossed in his path as he driving north on Route 309 in West Penn township.
About a mile south of the Tamaqua border, a large tree about 40 to 50 feet high fell across the north bound lanes.The tree struck the late model Dodge pickup, going through the windshield of the truck. The tree struck the driver in the face and head. He was treated at the scene by members of the Tamaqua ambulance and Lehighton paramedics before being transported to an area trauma center.
