A group of campers said a bear, surprised while rummaging for food in their tent, dragged a woman into the woods, clawed her and bit her, then covered her with brush and left the scene.
It happened at the eastern edge of Hickory Run State Park when three women from Philadelphia were camping near Hawk Falls, off Route 534.
While the one woman was attacked by the bear, her two companions fled along Mud Run and took refuge behind a tree as the bear took swipes at them with its paws.
