National Day of Prayer services

The Tamaqua Ministerial Association is hosting an ecumenical observance of the National Day of Prayer on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Trinity United Church of Christ’s parking lot overlooking the Five Points.

Following the outline provided by the National Day of Prayer organization, prayers will be offered by members of the clergy for government, media, business, education, church and family. One or two lay attendees could also offer brief prayers for each area.

“This is a spiritual event meant to promote unity through our faith in Christ, along with the belief that praying together for one another is a good thing,” said Trinity’s Pastor Darryl Kensinger.

The event is informal and chairs will be provided for those who need them. In the event of bad weather, the event will be moved inside. Trinity UCC is located at the corner of Lafayette and Washington streets in Tamaqua’s North Ward.

Immanuel Evangelical Congregational Church, Drehersville (along Route 895) will also hold a service for National Day of Prayer at 7:25 p.m.
