Local Roundup: Results from April 30
Marian’s baseball and softball teams were both victorious on Saturday, while Northwestern’s boys lacrosse squad won to clinch its first-ever district playoff berth.
Also earning a win was Panther Valley in baseball.
BASEBALL
Marian-Executive EA
Marian scored multiple runs in every inning to cruise to a 15-5 non-league victory over Executive Education Academy.
The Colts banged out 18 hits, including four by Lachlan Segedy - who had three singles, a double and two RBIs.
Brian Hinkle added three hits, two of them doubles, scored three times and knocked in three runs. Other Marian players contributing to the win included Chase Petrilyak (single, double, two RBIs), Joey Walko (double, triple, three runs, three RBIs), Michael Gelatko (single, home run, two runs, three RBIs) and Andrew Baran (two singles, three runs).
The Colts are now 9-6, while Executive stands at 4-5.

Panther Valley-Weatherly
Tyler Black pitched a five-inning one-hit shutout to lead Panther Valley to a convincing 16-0 Schuylkill League victory over Weatherly.
Black, who walked three and struck out 12, received plenty of offensive support.
Dave McAndrew III finished with three hits (one a double), two runs and three RBIs for the Panthers, who improved to 11-4 overall and 6-3 in the league.
PV, who scored in every inning, also received two hits and two runs from Drew Kokinda, while Cody Orsulak and Stephen Hood both finished with a hit and a pair of runs.
The only hit by the Wreckers (1-11; 0-7) came off the bat of Klaus Eroh.

Brandywine Heights
Brandywine Heights rode the pitching performance of Nathaniel Fronheiser to gain an 11-0 non-league victory over Jim Thorpe.
Fronheiser allowed just three hits in five innings, striking out two, to help his team move to 6-6.
The Bullets, who broke the game open with a seven-run third inning, received two hits - a double and homer - from Carson Renner.
Hits by the Olympians (6-8) came from Ian Henkels, Jack Edwards and Casey McArdle.

SOFTBALL
Marian-Executive EA
Marian swept Executive Education Academy in a non-league doubleheader.
The Fillies earned a 6-2 victory in the first game before rolling to a 17-0 win in the second.
Alise Heisey and Rhainnon Brady both homered for Marian in the opener, which was scoreless through the first three innings. Katie Barron also delivered a triple.
Morgan Kelly allowed just three hits and one walk while striking out 16.
In the second game, Kelly pitched a three-inning perfect game and the Fillies plated 13 runs in the second inning.
Kelly recorded eight of her nine outs via the strikeout.
Brady and Grace Gallagher both finished with two hits in the second-game rout, which pushed Marian’s mark to 11-4 and officially clinched a district playoff berth.

Wallenpaupack-Pleasant Vy.
Pleasant Valley held the lead after three innings, but Wallenpaupack came back to record a 14-3 non-league victory.
Natalie Meredick and Hunter Myers both homered for the Buckhorns, who trailed 3-1 before erupting for seven runs in the fourth inning.
The Bears (7-8) received two hits and an RBI from Brianca Pridham, while Kailynn Getz added a pair of hits - one a double - and a run. PV’s Hailey Krock chipped in with a double and a run, with Emilee Roberti contributing a double and an RBI.
The win upped Wallenpaupack’s record to 7-4.

Hailee Brown used her arm and bat to help Lourdes gain a 13-0 non-league victory over Weatherly.
Brown pitched a two-hit shutout and struck out five, and also hit a three-run homer for the Red Raiders.
Gabby Dusendschine added two doubles and two runs, while Cassidy Grimes finished with two hits - one a double - and two runs.
The only hits by the Wreckers (3-8) came from Madyson vonFrisch and Raynessa Diaz.
The win lifted Lourdes to 6-7.

BOYS LACROSSE
Northwestern-Northampton
Northwestern clinched its first-ever district playoff berth by defeating Northampton, 11-5.
Austin Sosnovik had four goals for the Tigers, who improved to 9-5. Blaine Snyder contributed three goals and an assist, while Andrew Collins added a goal and four helpers.
The winners also received a goal and an assist from Drew Sabo, Cade Christoper and Stone Sosnovik.
Northwestern goalie Bailen Smargiassi finished with five saves.
